Here at Crooked Creek Honey Farm, every hive we raise begins with care for the bees and their environment. Our 6-frame nucleus colonies represent the heart of a healthy apiary—full colonies with strong queens, plenty of brood, and the resources needed to thrive. We select our queens and bees intentionally to suit the unique conditions of North Texas, helping you start your beekeeping season with confidence.

The 2026 nucs include a VSH (Varroa Sensitive Hygiene) Italian/Carniolan hybrid queen, bred from inseminated lines developed by the USDA Baton Rouge Bee Lab and Ohio queen breeders. These bees are known for their ability to manage pests naturally, build large populations, and generally gentle behavior, which eases working with them as your hive grows. The 6-frame size offers an advantage for faster buildup over smaller nucs, which means you’re better positioned for a productive season.

• What’s Included: A fully functioning 6-frame nucleus colony housed in a disposable deep wooden nuc box. Includes:
  • 1 x Laying 2026 VSH Italian/Carniolan Hybrid Queen
  • 4 x Frames of brood at all stages (eggs, larvae, pupae)
  • 2 x Frames of honey, pollen, and bees
  • Thousands of worker, nurse, and drone bees
• Queen Genetics: Bred from VSH survivor stock with inseminated breeder queens from USDA Baton Rouge Lab and Ohio breeders.
• Key Traits: Varroa Sensitive Hygiene behavior, strong healthy populations, natural pest control, high honey production, gentle temperament, and reduced swarm tendencies.
• Pickup Information: Nucs available for customer pickup at Crooked Creek Honey Farm, 12992 County Road 577, Anna, TX 75409. Availability is early to mid-April 2026 with a specific date provided in late March.
• 7-Day Warranty: Each nuc is inspected before pickup to confirm it’s queenright with healthy brood. We offer a 7-day warranty for replacement or refund if the nuc fails to perform, provided claims are submitted within this period.
• Please Note: Live bees are a living agricultural product. Success depends on many factors including hive management, environment, and pest control. We provide a strong start but ongoing care is key.
